WHY CHOSE A CELEBRANT LED WEDDING?
Celebrant-led weddings are beautiful, romantic occasions, made completely bespoke to each couple. They can be intimate affairs, or as extravagant as you like! There are no rules!
With a celebrant-led ceremony you can celebrate your love exactly where, when and how you want.
Celebrant ceremonies can incorporate ANYTHING you choose. You may wish to include some cultural, religious or spiritual elements in your ceremony; you might want the celebrant to tell your love story; or you might like to include readings, blessings, vows written by you, a hand-fasting ceremony, a cocktail ceremony or even a song! The choice really is ALL YOURS. You can weave in your beliefs, cultures and sentiments – as much or as little as you like – and create a ceremony that truly reflects YOU as a couple.
I don’t work from an A,B,C script. I spend time getting to know my couples. Together, they share their experiences with me & I then write their love story, so it can be shared with their guests at their wedding ceremony.
THE LEGAL BIT
As the law stands currently in the UK, independent celebrants cannot yet conduct legally binding ceremonies. This means that you must complete your legal marriage formalities at a registry office, which consists of you saying, "I do solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment why I * may not be joined in matrimony to *. I call up these persons here present to witness that I * do take thee * to be my lawful wedded wife / husband". This takes approximately 6 minutes. Once the legal 'bit' has been completed, you are then free to hold your actual wedding ceremony ANYWHERE, ANYTIME and in ANY style/theme you like with me! You can choose a traditional or festival-feel wedding; grand or relaxed; from country manors to leafy, secluded woodlands – the choice is YOURS. There are no restrictions on location, time or content. It really is the best!
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A CELEBRANT LED WEDDING?
You may be worried that without the legal part, their ceremony won’t feel as special. But experience has taught me that a celebrant ceremony is EVERYTHING that you might expect from a wedding…. and so much more! The legal part involves a few contractual words. Everything else is purely the wedding ceremony itself (including the exchange of rings). And it’s the ceremony that makes your wedding so special. It’s the bit that you truly remember! The moment where you capture all of those important photos. The time when you get to wear your wedding attire & you get to spend the day with your loved ones at the party of your life!
A celebrant can offer you everything would expect from a wedding, such as walking down the aisle, making your vows to one another, exchanging rings, and the big “you may now kiss” moment! Alternatively, you might not want your ceremony to feel like a traditional wedding – you might have original ideas of your own. Some couples choose to walk in together or stand facing their guests for a more inclusive feeling. Couples with children often make them a key part of the ceremony. And some like to incorporate religious, spiritual or ancient customs into their ceremonies. No two ceremonies are the same – they can be as traditional or as alternative as you like, and everything in between. It’s YOUR story, told YOUR way.

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT?
I can offer you a variety of beautiful, bespoke ceremonies to compliment your wedding!
There are so many, fun & meaningful options to choose. Here are just a few of them........
PROSECCO CEREMONY (or any drink you like!) Throughout history, in many cultures and traditions, the sharing of a cup of your favourite tipple can be seen as blending the couple together for eternity. This can also be a very inclusive choice for your guests (so long as they don't drink too much!)
JUMPING THE BROOM This is a time-honored wedding tradition in which the bride and groom jump over a broom during the ceremony. The act symbolizes a new beginning and a sweeping away of the past, and can also signify the joining of two families or offer a respectful nod to family ancestors.
HANDFASTING is an ancient marriage ritual that is becoming increasingly popular with modern couples. The ceremony involves a couple’s hands being placed together and bound with ribbon or cord. This symbolises their joining through marriage. This is where the saying, 'tying the knot' originates from.
BLESSING THE RINGS A beautiful opportunity for your guests to give your rings their blessings and wishes for your future.Traditionally carried out before the ceremony begins. By the time you exchange them, you will feel the love.
BLENDING THE SAND is a popular and contemporary ritual, which can involve just the happy couple, or you can include your guests too! Sands are merged together to depict your lives blending as one. A beautiful creation that you can keep forever.
There are many, many more rituals available. Just ask me about them........
